🐎Fittings generally run 45 min to 1 hour per horse. We will discuss your needs & concerns, and horse's history. We observe the horse's physical build/fitness, and movement while standing/leading. Our goal is to determine saddle suitability by fitting saddles on your horse with and without saddle pads. Depending on your horse's level of training and comfort/safety, we will cinch/girth your horse and watch them move without a rider.🐎
🐎For farm call fittings, we will load the van with saddle possibilities from our inventory, and try owners/other outside saddles as you would like. Owners may choose to gently ride a few saddles during a fitting session(provided there is safe footing and clear weather) then keep a favorite from our inventory for a 3 day trial. (There is no riding at High Tail Tack, due to insurance limitations. )All participation in equine activities during fittings is at owners risk, per RCW 4.24.540)🐎
🐎Horses hauling into the store for fittings need to load and unload safely. Young horses don't need to be rideable yet, but should be saddle broke enough to quietly wear a saddle at home at walk/trot/canter. Underweight, lame, or horses displaying signs of sickness, will sadly need to wait for a fitting until they are feeling better.🐎
🐎If we don't find the right answer for your horse at the time of fitting, we are happy to keep looking for you, and/or provide you with a set of templates to help navigate shopping the “open market.” We often have consignment saddles arrive which directly sell to our saddle fitting customers, before they are even advertised.🐎
